A few weeks ago, I was going to the grocery store and asked Andrew if he wanted anything. To which he responded “Chocolate Malt”. We’ve actually had unopened malt powder in our house for over a year, and it gave me an idea. A few mornings later, after a long Sunday CrossFit workout, I threw some things into the blender and poured Andrew half of it. He was all “THIS IS GOOD! What is it?” It’s a chocolate malt recovery shake! I’ve made it a few morning post-runs since then and it is still delicious. Here’s the recipe for you!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 frozen banana (it’s best to take the peel off before you freeze)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp malt powder
- Recovery mix, according to package instructions (I use this in the chocolate flavor)
- Scoop of PB
Pour everything into a blender a blend for a few minutes. If you need to thicken it, add another banana, some ice cubes, or some yogurt. Top it with a gummy worm and enjoy!
I am already thinking of a fall version of this – pumpkin?! Yes. All of the pumpkin.
We’ll be back later this week talking about ultra-running. Meanwhile, we are adulting pretty hard – trying to decide if it makes sense to renovate our kitchen and getting ready to plant some grass.
